I was going to be a poet. When I wasn’t working on a poem, I was doing music – performing, listening, hosting a radio show, going to concerts or writing reviews for a local paper.
I never lost my passion for the written word and music. I wrote annual reports, speeches, press releases and ads instead of poems. But like my poetry, the work was built on three essentials: truth, creativity and attention to detail.
I left the corporate world to pursue songwriting and performing, only to realize that those same fundamentals are key components for a successful song. By then I was playing with John Vandale and we collaborated with Jefferson Riordan and Chris Toppin to record Prior to Leaving, my first collection of songs.
Soon after, we met Bob Metzger. Together we further developed our style and grew tighter as a group.
